Have your say

If you want to take action now, join Ohariu Preservation Society. We want to ensure that no more wind turbines are placed too close to people’s homes.

You can also write to your MP and the City Council: insist on proper noise standards for wind farms; that Meridian be forced to turn off turbines whenever they are creating excessive noise; and demand a prohibition on locating industrial-scale wind turbines in such close proximity to people’s homes.

If you live within 10kms of the proposed Mill Creek wind farm (Johnsonville, Churton Park, Newlands, Khandallah), write to Meridian Energy, let them know your address and ask them:

·        for a guarantee that you will not hear any noise from the Mill Creek turbines,

·        if they can’t provide this, ask what measures they will take to protect your family from any unwanted wind turbine noise?

You may want to write a letter to the editor of to the Dominion Post newspaper.  If you do you'll need to follow the rules for submitting letters to the Dominion Post.

Financial pressure is always one of the major concerns for societies involved in these causes. To help relieve some of this pressure we have a well-organised fund raising sub-committee. We are also asking individuals and organisations to contribute a lump sum or on a regular basis. Please email the OPS if you wish to make a donation.

The Society keeps financial accounts as set out by the Incorporated Society regulations to track and account for all funds. OPS is a registered charity.

Thank you for considering this request.
